The Marlowes Shopping Centre
Situated in the bustling town of Hemel Hempstead, The Marlowes Shopping Centre recently benefited from a total overhaul of their Fire Alarm System, protecting their retail units and customers.
In October 2015, Pacific was invited to design the complete overhaul of the Fire Alarm System at The Marlowes Shopping Centre. Situated in the busy town of Hemel Hempstead, The Marlowes required a strict out of hours working programme to accommodate some of their busiest months of the year, with shoppers visiting the centre until late hours.
Pacific quickly discovered that not only was the equipment onsite failing, it was also wired in singles through a conduit that was no longer compliant.
A large aspect of the project was re-cabling and replacing units and field devices. Pacific designed a system comprising an eight node, fault tolerant network of Advanced Mx5 Pro Panels, using Apollo devices throughout. Pacific also installed a bespoke graphics system. This had the ability to give a visual indication of all devices on the system, as well as the status of separate retail unit systems, which were then linked to the main system – a design feature noted to be of particular use.
The Marlowes Shopping Centre was a complex project with a large amount of work required to bring the system not only to operability, but to compliance. It demonstrates the wide variety of work and range of buildings Pacific can manage, and Pacific’s team of engineers were proud to deliver the project in a timely and efficient manner.
